Family
Dentistry |
We are
committed to providing quality dental care based on patients' oral health needs
and dental concerns.
We like for each patient to begin with a complete
examination, including x-rays and thorough evaluation of your teeth, gums and
oral tissues in order to provide a proper diagnosis and corresponding treatment
options.
We then administer the prepared course of treatment to address
your oral hygiene requirements, eliminate all sources of disease or infection
and redesign your smile.
|
Prevention |
For older
and younger members of the family prevention is of paramount importance.
Regular prophylaxis (cleaning), as well as fluoride applications, help each
patient to avoid damage or destruction of the teeth and surrounding
tissues.
In our young patients sealants are recommended for the
permanent molars as soon as they erupt so that cavities are prevented. Diet and
homecare are also emphasized as part of a regular program of personal hygiene
for everyone in the family.
Oral cancer screening is also encouraged for
every adult patient. The research has shown that oral cancer affects more than
just those who smoke or use various tobacco products. The earlier a lesion is
suspected and then detected, the better the chances of complete
recovery.

Crowns |
|
A crown is a
prosthetic placed over an existing tooth to create a cleaner, smoother look
while enhancing the strength and durability of the tooth.
The placement
of a crown may be recommended by Dr. Gordon to fix a fractured tooth, or a
tooth that has an outdated filling, or is severely damaged by decay.
It
can cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isnt enough
tooth left. It can be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from
breaking or restore one thats already broken.
A crown is a good
way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped. They are also used to
restore dental implants.

Dentures |
Dentures are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing
teeth. Conventional dentures are removable, however there are many different
denture designs, some which rely on bonding or clasping onto teeth or dental
implants.
You will find that as a patient we work closely with you in
the discussion of what you desire for your new dentures. We take the extra time
to work with you to ensure your dentures fit properly and meet your full
expectations. In some cases implants can greatly enhance the fit and function
of an existing denture. Implants are also used to fully support a fixed
denture.
Removable partial dentures are for patients who are missing
some of their teeth on a particular arch. Fixed partial dentures, also known as
"crown and bridge", are made from crowns that are fitted on the remaining teeth
to act as abutments and pontics made from materials to resemble the missing
teeth. Fixed bridges are more expensive than removable appliances but are more
stable. It is important in any case to replace your missing teeth so that those
remaining teeth will not start to drift and create other problems, such as
cavities and periodontal disease.
